Hello, our names are Diana Bowman RN, BSN, NHCE and Jennifer Palace RN, BSN, MSN.  We are your Nurse Educators for Medical-Surgical Nursing.  Our combined nursing career experience spans over 17 years.  Diana has been an emergency department nurse for 14 years, charge nurse, and an administrative supervisor for three years.    Jennifer’s experience entails several years as an operating room nurse, charge nurse, and a nurse educator for four years.
 

Nursing Education is responsible for nursing orientation of newly employed nursing staff (RN’s, GN’s, and PCA’s).  We are also required to do mandatory reviews with all staff in regards to hospital procedures, medication calculations, in-servicing on new products, and including BLS/CPR and Mock Code Blue. 

We arrange nursing grand rounds and offer contact hours for many of these nurse offerings.  We have educators in Medical Surgical/Critical Care Nursing, Critical Care/Emergency Departments, Operating Room, and Harris Birthing Center.

We take a great deal of pride in numerous committees that we chair and participate in, such as Patient, Family & Community Education, Nurse Pharmacy, Products, Nurse Educator Forum, System Nurse Educator, Med/VAT, PNC and ENPC, Gift of Life, Teletracking and EMR.  Jennifer is the editor of the SHARE Nursing Newsletter that is published quarterly.  The newsletter keeps nursing staff updated about committee meetings, awards, and certifications.
