Letter from the chair of the Huron Valley-Sinai Hospital PNC
It is my pleasure to be the 2011 Chair elect for PNC at DMC Huron Valley-Sinai Hospital. I have been an Operating Room Staff nurse at the hospital for a little over three years and, I have to say, out of twenty plus years of practice this has been my favorite place to work thus far.
As Chair elect my role is to facilitate a committee of nurses from each hospital department hand chosen by their managers to represent their units. I also have the pleasure of representing our hospital PNC at the DMC wide PNC monthly meetings.
PNC members represent their fellow nursing peers by initiating positive process improvement through evidence based nursing practice and shared decision making. This benefits our patients, their families and our fellow co-workers.
We as a group have the responsibility of contributing to decisions made in regards to nursing practice, the duty to share important information with our individual units and to develop and revise processes.
Nurses at Huron Valley-Sinai Hospital have a strong voice in determining nursing practice and standards of care that impact patient outcomes, a culture here that we are very proud of.
Truly, if it touches nursing practice at the DMC, it belongs to PNC.
Sincerely,
Lynne Arnaut RN, BSN, CNOR
