$1.7 Million National Brain Injury Grant Awarded to DMC Rehabilitation Institute of Michigan - 7/16/2008
DETROIT -- The Southeastern Michigan Traumatic Brain Injury System (SEMTBIS), housed at DMC Rehabilitation Institute of Michigan and the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Wayne State University, was recently awarded a 5-year grant totaling $1.7 million, from the U.S. Department of Education’s National Institute on Disability and Rehabilitation Research (NIDRR).

Detroit Medical Center Hospitals Rank in U.S. News and World Report’s 2008 Edition of America’s Best Hospitals - 7/14/2008
Detroit, MI – July 11, 2008 – The Detroit Medical Center has two hospitals ranked in the 2008 US News and World Report list of America’s Best Hospitals. DMC Harper University Hospital ranked #27 in Neurology & Neurosurgery, jumping up from #31 last year, and DMC Sinai-Grace Hospital moved up from #48 in 2007 to #40 in Neurology & Neurosurgery. Sinai-Grace also ranked in the Top 50 for gastrointestinal disorders. The DMC is proud to be the only health care system with two nationally ranked neurology hospitals ranked in the Top 40 list of Best Hospitals.

The Detroit Medical Center Re-Names Hospital; Brings New Services to Oakland County - 7/14/2008
DETROIT – The Detroit Medical Center announced today that its Michigan Orthopaedic Specialty Hospital in Madison Heights has been re-named DMC Surgery Hospital. The name change reflects an expansion of services for adults and children. In addition to continuing to provide orthopaedic surgery for adults, surgeons from the Children’s Hospital of Michigan will now perform outpatient surgery in seven specialty areas at the hospital.

Detroit Medical Center Employees Will Walk 6,637 Miles to Beijing in Time for the Olympics - 6/23/2008
DMC Rehabilitation Institute of Michigan’s Fitness Center has begun the journey to Beijing, China, the host city for the 2008 Olympics. Over 50 Detroit Medical Center employees have signed up for the challenge and are hoping to make a lifestyle change by taking the ceremonial walk to Beijing. The group will travel west across the United States, over the Pacific Ocean, and into Beijing just in time for the Olympics, for a total of 6,637 miles.

Detroit Receiving Hospital and the Detroit Riverfront Conservancy Announce Walking Program: RiverWalkers Club Kick-off Event on Tuesday, June 10th - 6/13/2008
DETROIT – Detroit Receiving Hospital’s Rosa Parks Geriatrics Center has partnered with the Detroit Riverfront Conservancy in the development of a free walking club exclusively for adults age 60 and over. Those interested in participating should plan to attend the kick-off event on Tuesday, June 10, 2008, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Rivard Plaza (1340 Atwater Street, Detroit).

DMC Rehabilitation Institute of Michigan President, Terry A. Reiley, Retires After 19 Years of Dedicated Service - 6/10/2008
DETROIT -- Terry A. Reiley is retiring after nearly 19 years of service to Detroit Medical Center, most recently as president of DMC Rehabilitation Institute of Michigan (RIM). Reiley will officially leave the DMC on July 5. She is retiring to Colorado, where she began her career as a physical therapist. Under her direction for the past eight years, RIM has flourished as one of the leading rehabilitation centers in the nation with ongoing research and innovative treatment practices that exceed conventional standards.
