Meet our Cardiology Team

Randy Lieberman, MD

Randy Lieberman, M.D

A family crisis during childhood propelled Randy Lieberman, M.D. towards a brilliant career helping flawed hearts to beat more regularly. His sister was hit by a car and was in a coma for 130 days. Hope was waning that she'd recover but doctors pulled her through. Filled with gratitude and awe, five-year-old Randy knew exactly what he wanted to do with his life. He decided to become a doctor.

Today Dr. Lieberman heads Harper University Hospital's internationally recognized department of electrophysiology, the subspecialty of medicine that diagnoses and treats irregular heart rhythms. Dr. Lieberman and his colleagues are pioneering an exciting new approach to treating heart failure: biventricular pacing. Harper University Hospital's study of this experimental treatment to strengthen weak heart muscles is the largest in the nation.

"Our program has a unique commitment to patient care," says Dr. Lieberman. "Heart patients at Harper University Hospital receive the most sophisticated, cutting-edge new treatments. Our academic link to Wayne State University School of Medicine combined with our compassionate care for patients makes this program unique."

Dr. Lieberman received his medical degree at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. He completed his residency in internal medicine at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine in Nashville, Tennessee. Dr. Lieberman returned to Case Western Reserve where he completed fellowships in cardiology, electrophysiology, and pediatric electrophysiology.
