Infusion Center

Services

The Infusion Center at the Charach Cancer Treatment Center provides patients the opportunity to be treated for a wide variety of medical conditions on an outpatient basis. Among the medical specialties that refer patients to the Infusion Center are: Hematology, Medical Oncology, Gastroenterology, Infectious Diseases, General Internal Medicine, Neurology and Rheumatology.

Medical oncologists and other physician specialists choose the CCTC for a variety of infusion services including:

  • Chemotherapy administration
  • Monoclonal antibodies (i.e Herceptin, Rituxan, Remicade)
  • Transfusion of blood products
  • Antibiotic therapy
  • Immune- globulin therapy
  • Hydration/electrolyte replacement

Other services provided:

  • Colony stimulating growth factors (i.e. neupogen, neulasta, procrit, aranesp)
  • Therapeutic phlebotomy
  • Venous access device maintenance
  • Insertion of PICC and mid-lines

Services are limited to adults and provided by knowledgeable experienced nurses who combine clinical excellence with individualized patient care. Our nurses are highly skilled in both peripheral and central venous access and certified in chemotherapy administration. Many of our nurses are certified by the Oncology Nurses Society.

The informal, comfortable environment of the Infusion Center offers 9 patient seating areas with reclining treatment chairs, individual TVs, and privacy curtains all in full view of the nurse's station/desk. There are also two rooms with beds available.

Monday- Friday 8 am to 4 pm

Appointments are required. All patients seen in the infusion center are admitted to HVSH on an outpatient basis, therefore it is required that a physician with DMC ordering privileges write or fax orders for desired treatment.

Other Helpful Hints:

  • Family or friends are welcome to accompany you during your treatment. We do ask that visitors be limited to 2, preferably no small children or those that are ill.

  • For first time therapy, it is recommended that someone accompany you to your appointment.

  • Refreshments are available but lunch is not provided.

  • You may eat breakfast and take usual medications prior to coming for your appointment unless otherwise directed
