| Detroit Receiving Hospital Targets Men’s Health With Its Madden Challenge: Tournament Encourages Men to Play Video Games for Their Health – DETROIT – Detroit Receiving Hospital will host a community outreach event specifically for men. Detroit Receiving’s Madden Challenge will be held Saturday, November 1, 2008, at the South Beach Pizza Café in the Fisher Building, 3011 W. Grand Boulevard in Detroit, from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. The target audience, 35- to-50 year-old men, will compete in the video game, Madden NFL 09’ on Sony PlayStation units. There is a $10 cover charge for non-players. Free refreshments will be served. The purpose of this video game tournament is to increase the education and awareness of prostate health in the Greater Detroit community.

| Michigan Alliance for the National’s Children’s Study awarded $57 million to include children from more Michigan counties: Children’s Hospital researcher appointed as Principal Investigator for Genesee County – DETROIT -- The Michigan Alliance for the National Children’s Study (MANCS), which is comprised of researchers from the Children’s Hospital of Michigan, Henry Ford Health System, Michigan Department of Community Health, Michigan State University, University of Michigan, Wayne State University (WSU), and Michigan county health departments has been awarded an additional $57 million in funding from the National Institutes of Health to expand MANCS’ role in the largest research project ever to study children’s health and the causes of ailments such as asthma, autism, cerebral palsy and obesity.
