 Hello, my name is Penny McPhee RN,BSN, MLS, I’m one of the
Nurse Educators for Medical-Surgical Nursing. My nursing career has spanned over
40 years, I have been a bedside nurse, a nurse manager, a nursing supervisor and
now a nurse educator.
Nursing Education is responsible for nursing
orientation of newly employed nursing staff (RNs, GNs and PCAs). We are also
required to do mandatory reviews with all staff in regards to medication
calculations, BLS/CPR and Mock Code Blue.
We arrange nursing grand rounds
and offer contact hours for many of these nurse offerings. We have educators in
Medical-Surgical/Critical Care
Nursing, Emergency Department, Operating
Room and Harris Birthing
Center.
I am the editor for the SHARE
Nursing Newsletter. The newsletter keeps nursing staff updated about
committee meetings, awards and certifications, EMR information, and responses to
staff questions from our V.P. of Nursing services. The newsletter is published
every other month with input from the following committees: PNC, Code Blue
Comm., Documentation Comm., Patient, Family & Community Education Comm.,
Nurse Pharmacy, Products Comm., NICHE Comm. and EMR Super user meetings.
