The Huron Valley-Sinai hospital has experienced enormous growth in its surgical services in the past five years resulting in a 40 percent increase in outpatient surgeries and a 25 percent increase in inpatient cases. Ophthalmology:advanced ophthalmo-logic surgical procedures are performedusing the latest technology. The hospitalis the first in Michigan to obtainPhacoemulsifier, which surgeons use to break cataract into tiny pieces andthen suction pieces through a very small incision. Prior to obtaining this newequipment, cataracts were removed inone piece, requiring a larger incision,sutures, and more trauma to the eye.
